On the first day, 8/2, we flew to Seattle (on a plane, obviously) and we were picked up at the airport by my cousins who actually drove to Seattle. However, they live in Portland, OR, so it only took them 3 hours. After eating a quick lunch at one of our distant relatives' houses, we got to the dock. The ship was gigantic!!!!! In fact, just to show you how huge it was, here's a picture of it:
Our ship, (at least for a week) the Westerdam
The check-in place was crazy, and it reminded me of an airport. First a porter came and took your bags. Then they took pictures of all of us,
downloaded them into our keycards, and gave the cards to us. Next we finally got into the ship and to our rooms. They were basically slightly small hotel rooms. At first we wondered how all 4 of us would fit on a queen bed, but it turned out there was a bunk bed and a sofa bed cleverly hidden inside the room's furnishings. We didn't really do much except eat and listen to music that day, but i did take a photo of the Seattle skyline:
